New Start and Bad Influences :-)

I got started on Ruth Bacheler this weekend. I am stitching it with good, old DMC on 36 count Lakeside Navy Bean :-). I think this is going to be such a fun project, I love the Irish stitches and the colors are so bright and pretty.

I've also kitted up This is the Day by Hands to Work. I blame my inability to stick to my rotation on several people ;-). First Siobhan, she posted a picture of her finish and I put it on my someday soon list. Then Jan posted pictures of her piece and I fell in love with her color changes. I really like the funky colors Tracy used in the original design but Jan's colors will fit in my home perfectly. I sort of nagged Jan into sharing her conversion :-). I hate to admit it but I made a few tiny changes to suit myself. I was still resisting but getting weaker. I kept reminding myself that I have a rotation I am suppose to be following. Then Nicole decided to start right away and posted pictures. Resistance is futile, yes my DH is a Star Trek fan and has dragged me along to movie after movie, LOL. So now it's all ready to stitch and sitting on my counter calling my name.

The blame for the second piece I couldn't resist kitting falls squarely on Siobhan, she's such a bad influence ;-). I love her Sarah Salter piece. It's one of the designs that has been floating around in my head for a while. I look at Siobhan's finish at least once or twic a week, LOL. It's a little difficult to find the chart so when I saw one on Ebay I thought I'd better go ahead and get it. It has been sitting on my coffee table for two weeks. Since I had everything out and I can't stop thinking about it, I thought I might as well kit it. I want to stitch it in silks but I didn't have all the colors I needed so I decided to fudge a bit. I am really happy with my conversion. Now I am trying to figure out how I am going to work it into my rotation too.

So there's my poor, sad tale, LOL. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. My mom and I are going shopping and I plan on stopping by my not so LNS so I may have something else I can't wait to stitch.

I got a creative blogger award from Melissa, who BTW has been a bad influence too. She just finished a BBD piece from the Fine Collection book and now I can't stop thinking it either. I am suppose to name 8 blogs but I would have a hard time choosing. I am amazed at all the wonderful blogs in the stitching community. Everyday I find a "new to me" blog that inspires and reminds me again of how much I love needlework. Thank you Melissa for the award!
Finally I need to thank Andrea. She had a giveaway on her blog and I won! She sent me the CHS Noah's stocking chart. I was so excited, love Noah's Ark stuff, CHS and I didn't have the chart :-).

I hope you all have a great week! Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet and taking the time to read and comment on my blog.

I must say I'm "in love" with everything you have going on Katrina :)
I started "This is the Day" yesterday myself...I had it on my "list" to do as soon as I got a couple of my WIPs done...and with my Earth Sampler finish that was the time I considered to start it...so imagine my surprise when I saw many, many ladies that have started it or were already working on it! LOL! Funny...it is a darling design. Will be excited to watch all these beauties grow!

Love your Ruthie, Katrina! And yes, I have the same problem with wanting to start absolutely everything! I just finished a project so I've been sitting here deciding and deciding. It's so hard! But fun! lol!

I think almost every stitching blogger out there is an enabler in one way or another - tempting with their beautiful stitching and finishing! I can't keep up with it all, but it's fun to see. And I think you're wise for blaming it on others :)

Your Ruthie is beautiful Katrina!! Well worth it restarting it with these colors. I need to update my blog and get my Ruthie up :-)

I really like the first one you started, I have been seeing a few people working on it, and love the colors. I will be strong and resist it. Fellow bloggers are such motivators aren’t they?

How have you been? I hope all is well for you. I am looking forward to another visit in Colorado this May. My sister is having a baby :)

Katrina, you do know I have This is the Day in my rotation, don't you, rofl? Do I smell another SAL together?

You betcha Siobhan is a wonderful influence, she is my own personal enabler! LOL I am not usually so possessive, I know she enables quit a few of us, all in a good way!!

And guess what, Katrina, she too enabled me to start Sarah Salter!! Yup, that is right, but I won't get to mine until next month, I am afraid! I decided to go with a different look, shame on me, for changing the colors and converting again, but I did! Let me know when you start! Oh and your starts look so great, I am envious!

I have admire many of your projects over the past year! Having all of these blogs to look at, can be a bad thing for our "to do" list for sure! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration. I do love it!

Ruthie is looking awesome and I'm so on board with This is the Day. So glad you got Jan to spill on her color conversion. Wasn't that NICE?!! Sarah Salter is a sweet piece too and now I may have to go in search of that one myself! Congrats on your blogger award ~ you so deserve it!

Oh, I agree with Terri. Ruth is looking so pretty. I know exactly what you mean about bad influences. I've already blamed Siobahn for a couple of things, and I blame Nicole and Jan for the fact that I'm gonna have to eventually stitch This Is the Day. Who knows when that day will be? Congrats on your award!

ROFLOL!! Is it bad that I cackled the entire way through reading your blog entry?? ROFLOL I am so psyched for you, though, and for me to be able to watch your progress! Your Ruthie is coming along great! YGG!! I can't wait to see how your Sarah looks, and I'm intrigued now that Jan says she's tweaked the design, too. Oh, and your blog header photo... Oh. My. Gosh. :::thunk::: Beautiful. I love it.

Isn't it wonderful, all the enabling going on!
Your Ruthie is looking beautiful.
Can't wait to see your progress & color changes on "This Is The Day".

Beautiful progress on Ruthie Katrina! I love the changes you made! I finally started over last night. I have almost got the top row finished - I just have a few more triangles to complete. I can't wait to see both of your new starts. I know they are going to be so pretty. You have such a good eye for color!

LOL, so many bad influences--er, I mean friends!--and so little time for all the lovely patterns they bring to our attentions.

Congrats on your award!

You're making great progress on Ruthie. I'm so enjoying the bright, cheerful colors on this sampler.

Can't wait to see your progress on Sarah. You and Karin may have some company on Ms. Lila's House... I've ordered the chart, along with Plantation Sampler and a couple of others. Thanks to all the enabling going on lately... it's hard to resist adding to the collection.

Gorgeous new starts Katrina :)

Oh hon - the things we get ourselved into. One of the big benefits and problems with the internet is all the lovely pieces that are out there.
Look forward to watching your progresses

Yummy! All you're doing is beautiful, as always! I have "This is the Day" kitted up, as well. With so many of us stitching it, we should start a SAL... So happy to visit you again now that my computer's back up.
Hugs, Deb

Isn't it nice to blame someone else for your own lack of willpower and self control? There's an awful lot of enabling going around. A person needs to hide out in a cave to get away from it all, but you gotta love it.
Love the new banner photo.

You're so funny, Katrina! But, I do love the new pieces you've kitted up. The colors for Sarah are gorgeous!!! What a stunner that one's going to be. I can't decide which colors to go with for This is the Day.

Speaking of bad influences, Katrina, you're doing a pretty good job of it yourself, Katrina. Ruth is beckoning louder every day, and now YOU are showing us all these gorgeous pictures as well. That's it. I'm not going to visit any more blogs. It's the only solution.

Annemarie said...

Oh, BTW: you wouldn't want to join our CHS Stocking SAL that's starting April 16th, would you? I hate to be a bad influence, but I'm stitching Noah's Stocking :o)

Isn't it nice to have so many bad influences in one's life? :~) I just love Ruthie. I may have to break down and get her yet.

I have been reading through your blog and must say you have been busy. The sarah Salter design is wonderful...mine remains in my stash of "to do" projects!

Sophie and Chloe are beautiful! :D

That Siobhan sure can be a bad influence. I think I went nuts when I saw her This is the Day and now I'm jumping on the bandwagon too (just waiting for fabric). I really like your Ruthie. I've been watching Margarets and wishing I had started it along with you. And I'm on board for Sarah Saltar too - waiting on that fabric also. I think that these boards and blogging are just too dangerous!
