Stitching Stuff

It's been a while since I posted, life has been a bit busy lately. I've made a fair bit of progress on This is the Day. It's such a fun piece, I am loving stitching it. I am really pleased with the color changes.
My friend Karin and I do a stitchalong on Fridays. Our current piece is Miss Lila's House. I am using The Attic's Belle Soie conversion. So far I am really happy with how it's turning out.

I decided to try to put together a conversion on my own. I really wanted to stitch Plum Street Samplers Eve Stories to Live By in overdyes. I hope the colors I've chose will work well. I hope I get to start it this week.
My rotation has officially gone out the window and I am following the "whichever piece is calling the loudest" theory of priority. I am just going "enjoy the journey" and stitch on whatever I please :-). I don't want my stitching to be stressful which is what happens when I start making a bunch of rules for myself. Don't get me wrong, I have so much admiration for those of you who have a rotation and follow it faithly and still get tons of enjoyment from your needlework. It's just not my style and I am going to be okay with that!

Hope everyone is well! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment on my blog.

I totally agree with rotations. I have tried to do a rotation and then I feel let down when I give in and stitch what I want.....I don't want to feel that way, so don't make rotations any more. I, too admire those that can. Your stitching is just lovely and I think the colours you have chosen will be really pretty

This is the Day is looking great. You've got a lot of lovely projects there. I agree - go with what you feel like stitching. It's all meant to be fun and not stressful.

Judging by what you've got there you should be having loads of fun stitching!

Your stitching projects are lovely. I have Miss Lila's House in my stash, and I've wanted to start it forever. I like your "whichever piece is calling the loudest theory". LOL. You have to do what works for you! I'm glad you are posting again. I love reading your blog.

I am madly in love with TITD! Your other projects are beautiful as well.

I could not possibly handle a rotation! I like your theory on the loudest calling piece getting the attention!

I'm with you on the 'stitch what feels good' journey! Whenever I try to follow a schedule or whatever, I just lose all interest!

Love your current WIPs!

From time to time when I'm in the mood for it I also try to put up a rotation. It always work in the beginning but after a while I stay with one of the projects and usually finish it. Or start soemthing new, lol.
Your WIPs look great!

This is the Day is looking great - you're really making good progress. And Miss Lila's House is such a nice design - especially with those colors on black! It's one I've had in my stash for ages and maybe should think about doing it. But I haven't even started This is the Day yet. And what I can see of your conversion for Stories to Live By looks great!

All of your stitching is beautiful! I've never been able to do a rotation...I just go wherever my whims take me, lol!!!

Great work there girl. I try to use a rotation and it never works - well for a week or two and then I fall off the wagon. I wish I could stick to it.

Oh, do I love Miss Lila's colors! She's still in my WIP basket, waiting for me to get to her again. Maybe this week. This is the Day is looking great also. That's hanging out in my please-stitch-me pile, which grows by the day.

Your stitching priority rule is pretty much what happens around here. I kind of have to do what thrills me at the moment, but I'm trying to stick to that one ornament a month commitment. Even that can be tricky.

Have a fun Sunday.

I like your thinking to stitch on whatever one is yelling the loudest! That is mainly how it works here... or sometimes the one that yells it wants to be started!

Your stitching looks beautiful!

Wow, great progress on TitD! YGG! Love your Miss Lila's House, and the conversion you've done for Eve is going to be fabulous. I'll enjoy watching your progress. :)

I'm with you on the rotation. It's fun to follow it when it is fun... but as stitching is meant to be enjoyed, it's fine to toss it aside when a particular project calls to you & you can't put it down. Life has enough rules--you need to go with what works in the here & now.

I love your WIPS, Katrina! And your conversion for Eve too! And as for rotation -- I agree, go with the flow! Stitching is to enjoy, not to feel obligated! Oh, and I love that lovely piece in your header! Drool drool.....

You're making progress on your WIPs and your conversion for Eve looks like a winner to me! I totally agree with you about the 'rotation thing'.... I've put my rotaiton plans on the back burner and just plan on stitching what's calling to me the loudest.

Thanks to you and Karin I've ordered Miss Lila and hope to start her soon.

I'm with you on the rotation thing (looks like there's a lot of us out there!!). I can never seem to put down the one I'm stitching on to go onto the next one. As long as we're all happy, that's all that matters, right?

Beautiful progress on your wips Katrina! I love Miss Lila's House - I may have to add that one to my stash in the near future! What count linen are you using? Can't wait to see you "Eve" start. Siobhan's turned out so pretty! May have to add that one to the stash too! LOL! :)

Miss Lila is soooo pretty! And I love you This is the Day. What fun you must be having!

Love your starts, Katrina! And I am so with you and the others who have commented on the rotation thing. I've got quite a few started, but I usually end up just plowing through with one until I'm done. Unless it's a BAP ~ that's another story. :~)

Katrina, I really like the This Is the Day conversion - it looks great! And you're doing Miss Lila's House - I am jealous as that is such a lovely design.

I'm with you on the rotation thing - too restrictive sometimes.

This is the day is lovely, i love the muted colours.
I agree with you about the rotation thingy, i'd feel too pressured, i think your right to just go with the flow!

Karin said...

Great progress Katrina!! That is why I only do one or now 2 projects in rotation. That way it is still fun but I wouldn't want to plan my whole week! I like to go with whatever I feel like stitching on those days.

Jan said...

My rule of thumb for rotations is not to over-obligate myself! That said, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I have definitely fallen off the rotation wagon the last few months. But it does help me stay focused, so I still set goals each month.

Your TitD is looking ever so pretty!! Miss Lila's House will be lovely and I know your color conversion will be great for Eve!

Selecting colors is so difficult for me that is why I stick to the suggested color list! Wish I were more talented in that area.
I often wonder how people stick to their stitching rotation...guess they call that discipline ~ not for me. LOL

I'm a fan of the "screaming rotation", too - I always start rotations with the best of intentions, but end up giving in to the one that calls my name the loudest.

This is the Day is coming along nicely!

Boy Katrina! This is the Day is looking gorgeous! I"m not much of a rotation stitcher either ~ don't know how some do it. I just have trouble switching gears, sometimes. Can't wait to see your PSS Eve with the overdyes. I just love'em!

You always do such nice stitching Katrina TITD is looking fabulous. I might do it sometime as it is in the magazine I have . I have never tried a rotation as I know they are not for me ;-)

Take care

I just love the Peacock sampler-the cokours ar beautiful! As for rotations Ha ha!! Mine is whatever is sitting next to me at the moment until the next time i shuffle seats.

Nice stitching. I really like that This is the Day design.

I am with you on the rotation thing. I could never really get myself to follow it. Something else was always calling me. Then I did not want to stitch on anything because I was going against the rotation. So I threw it out too. Stitching is for fun so stressing over a rotation is not good.

TITD is coming along nicely...you must be much further by now! LOL I'm plugging along with it and I still love stitching it. I've just started using the rotation method for the first time ever, and it helps me. Maybe I'll find it tiresome in the long-run. I love "Eve," and can't wait to see you start it! Hugs,

Rotations, like rules, are meant to be broken. Of course, this from a woman who has also lapsed from her rotation...Oh well, life is too short to stitch on something you're not fully into.

Miss Lila's house is looking great!

Glenna said...

I'm very much a fan of no-rotation stitching. Every other part of my life is pretty rigid--work, school assignments, commute, etc., so it's nice to just ask myself "what do I want to stitch today?"

I love all your projects!

your stitching is beautiful! I found you via, Nicole. I love her blog & she is always saying how she gets her conversions from her friend Katrina. I had to come & check your blog out! Great job!!!!
I will be back!

I've tried rotations three times now, and I think I'm going to adopt your more guilt-free philosophy.

Your WIPs are coming along wonderfully. I really like Miss Lila's House.
