Paradise Found

I am way overdue updating my blog. I have promised Siobhan every day for the last week today I will post a picture of Paradise Lost. Then the day gets away from me and it doesn't happen.

I am happy to say, I found my stitching mojo and it is paradise! Seriously, Plum Street Sampler's Paradise Lost is such a pleasure to stitch. I love the colors, the theme, all the animals and Adam's man boobs ;-). I am working a page of the chart at a time, I was hoping to be on page 3 by now but I haven't had as much stitching time as I would like. I am stitching it with the NPI and Gloriana silks on 40 count light examplar.

The Dyeing to Stitch retreat was wonderful. Karin and I had so much fun. We took the Blackbird Designs and Jeanette Douglas classes, they were great. We were allowed to purchase the kits for the other track and of course I got the Shepherd's Bush kit. I knew I would love it.

My friend Tanya paints gorgeous needlework sets. Since I am obsessed with Adam and Eve, of course I wanted her to paint mine with an A&E theme. Aren't they sweet? I love the snakes too :-).

I always wonder at my friends with kids that have left home that keep their rooms for them. Seriously, I love my DS more than life but his car wasn't out of the driveway before my DD and I started rearranging. We moved her into her older brother's old room, he had the bigger room and the bigger closet. Meggie's old room has become my stitching room. I love having my own room. My DH has his man cave in the basement, please don't feel sorry for him because he's underground :-). It's garden level, completely finished and is very high tech, surround sound, huge TV, big man desk, leather furniture and all the latest game systems and no throw pillows or flowers so he's good. Anyways, I thought you might enjoy seeing my stitching room, it's small but very comfy thanks to my parents who gave me the bookshelves and the couch :-). My mom also gave me the jewelry box were I keep all my embellishments, buttons, beads, and thread. Those necklace holders are wonderful for hanging the threads. Now I just need to do lots of stitching so I have more pieces hanging on the walls. Even though it's still a work in progress, I am very happy with it and it's so nice having a place for all my stitching stuff and books.

I hope this little post finds you all well and happy and getting lots of stitching done! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog. Hugs to all!

Oh Katrina! What a lovely post! I love your PS progress! What's the best part is that everyone who I've seen working on this piece has started in a different place so I can see different parts depending on whose blog I go to! I love yours! And your A&E set -- gorgeous! I can't wait for mine! :D Your stitching room looks perfect too! So comfy and cozy! Does JD come home to stay and visit? I can't change my daughter's room into a stitching room or anything cause she comes home from college and expects her room to be her room. Ah well. I just have to wait! lol!

Great progress on Paradise Lost Katrina...it's beautiful. I really love the colors in this piece. Also, what a wonderful little set from Tanya!

I am so envious of your stitching room. You have everything displayed so nicely. Where did you find your ornament tree? I've been looking for one but can't find anything similar. One day...one day...I'll have my own stitching room. :)

What a gorgeous stitching room. Who would have thought to use one of those jewellry cabinets for stitchy stuff! Great idea. It is so nice to have a room for your personal treasures.
Love your progress on your sampler. The colors are wonderful.

Your PL looks fantastic! You're making fabulous progress with it. I am just at the point where you started, so it's nice to see what the next bit will look like. Maybe we could merge the two and just work on the end together!? ;)

I love your idea to use the jewelry case for threads, Katrina! What a great idea! Once my daughters left home, I also made one of the bedrooms into my stitching room. It really is nice to have your own place to spend time in. Your room is really lovely and I know must bring you many hours of enjoyment while stitching! Thanks for sharing Paradise Lost, can't wait to see your finish - the colors are really beautiful!

great progress Katrina, I love your new set of accessoiries. And your stitching room....... ah what can I say. Must be a dream come true.

I agree with you - Paradise Lost would be the perfect piece to get back into a stitching mood. Very nice progress picture.
Your stitching studio looks gorgeous. When my kids moved out I turned the guest room into my room because a part of my stitching stuff had already been in there. And when we have house guests they sleep in one of the children's rooms. And when my children visit they always find their beds and some of their stuff. Perect solution for all of us.

Hi, Katrina, It's always such a treat for me to read your blog entries. This one was no exception to that rule. I loved reading and seeing all of your new stitches and charts and room placements. There's nothing I would have loved more than to have been on that Retreat with you and Karin! Everything just looks awesome! Hugs, Deb

Your post made me laugh ~ the man boobs, the part about your son's bedroom, your DH man cave...such a riot!
Hey, your new sewing room looks so inviting. I must ask, is that a P. Buckley Moss print or Cross Stitch that is pictured on the bookcase? It looks like it might be the Engagement??? I am a big fan of P.Buckley Moss. :)

HI Katrina, That lovely apple with the two bits out of it, that is WAY too cute! I have to find out where you got that so I can get one or two. Also your Paradise Lost is really nice. I can hardly wait to see the whole thing finished. I haven't stitched at all since May -- but I will at some point. Most of my things were stuffed into Rubbermaid Containers that were in my stash room and are now in the garage. Lots of WIPs in almost UFO status now. I changed out my stash room to a small office, and am still in process of getting it finished. Painting to do, and cabinets to repaint so they are more agreeable with the desk color. White doesn't do it (grin). I'd like to set up a cabinet with a TV/DVD so I can do my paperwork, read, pray, study, stitch or just watch tv in there if I want to. It will be my own little get away of sorts that I can leave my work on and close the door. It helps keep the other desk that is off the living room a bit neater, and the sofa as well in the living room. I was famous for leaving all my needlework on the coffee table and sofa in the past. I'm off to read the rest of your blog, see what you have been up to. Miss all you gals...saw a lot of familiar names on your comments. So HI! Everyone....ttys, Cathy Caldwell

Loved your new stash room, it is so cozy and having the space to add a sofa, that is wonderful. My 'stash room / office' isn't very large, I have loads of cabinets and book cases in there, so it eats up most of the space. I managed to get a desk, a small file cabinet in there, and I am adding one more cabinet with a TV eventually...haven't even purchased it yet, but I know what I am getting for the room. There's nothing like having your space, is there? Enjoy it...we'll look forward to seeing all your new creations while you sit in that lovely room! Cathy Caldwell

Oh I just love the Adam & Eve tools. I want some too!!! Did you have the Jane Timmers chart that is used for the Moda tin?

Oh, I would LOVE a studio type room. In our homes, DH always gets his own room, but me - never! I'm told 'the living room is mine', ie the public area, which must be kept tidy....
