Round Robin Rant and New Start

I am in a Neighborhood Round Robin with a great group of ladies, well all except one. Lauren Winter has had my and Michelle's round robins for months. She stopped communicating with the group well before Christmas. Despite numerous emails from more than one of us she continues to ignore every attempt we've made to fix this situation. Three weeks ago as a last resort I sent her a stamped envelope. There was enough postage to mail both pieces on to the next person in the rotation and still nothing. I've also posted to her blog asking her to make things right. I feel sure she's looking because I've seen her coming and going on Feedjit for the neighborhood blog. This morning I emailed her and told her if she didn't send me proof that she had mailed the pieces in the form of a USPS tracking confirmation that I would post something on my blog. I am very upset. I understand that sometimes we can't fulfill our commitments but never in a million years would I keep someone else's piece. I just don't understand it. No matter what is or isn't happening in her life, how hard is it to drop a package off at the post office. So this week I will start a new piece, thankfully Michelle and Judith have both said they will stitch my piece again, thank you ladies. Poor Michelle has yet to even have had someone stitch on her's. She is going to have to start over as well.

On a happier note, I've been working on BBD's newest Loose Feather piece, Where My Heart Blooms. It's so much fun and the colors are gorgeous. I think Alma and Barb are fast becoming my favorite designers. I went to Fancimats on Monday for the Market Day and got I Thee Wed, Mildred's Garden House and Thank You Sarah Tobias. They are all wonderful. I also met up with Chelle's sister Joy. We shopped a bit and then went to lunch at Panera's. It was a very nice day :-).

We are still missing Shelby terribly. Today was beautiful, sunny and 55, just the kind of day she'd have loved. Whenever it was nice out she'd go in and out all day and lay in the sun. She liked nothing better than to nap on the deck :-).

I hope everyone is having a great week! Thank you all for taking the time to read and comment on my blog, I so appreciate it.

***In answer to Carol R's comment: Like you I would truly love to give Lauren the benefit of the doubt and that's how I approached this situation. This has been going on for several months. Based on all the information I have available to me she's ignoring the group. According to her blog she's 24 so I don't think she's died. I've googled her extensively to try and locate a phone number. I feel sure I would have come across that kind of information. I considered a computer crash but I find it almost impossible to believe in this day and age, particularly when someone works, they'd not have any access whatsoever to a computer. What's more, before she stopped communicating she'd assured the organizer of our group several times that she'd sent out the round robins. I also sent her a stamped envelope in the mail, she doesn't live alone if she were very ill someone would have still opened the package and known from my note there was an issue. I also know that she bailed on at least one exchange. Unfortunately, I know more than one person who has had their round robin piece "kept" by someone. I wouldn't have posted about this situation if I didn't feel I had made every possible effort to resolve it privately. I hope that eventually the pieces are returned but at this point I am not counting on it. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

I can't believe someone would keep a round robin! Or any piece of stitching that wasn't theirs...It is disgusting and you have every right to warn the rest of us about this person...As for Shelby, it will take a little while to stop feeling so much loss, but you will.....I lost Jessie after 16years, 18 months ago and I still think about her every day. I had gotten her when I was 17. There is a photo of her on our fridge....Our little pets will always be remembered and know that they were a huge part of our family

That is a shame about the stitching. I certainly hope there's a good explanation and that it's not being done out of maliciousness. From what I've seen, most stitchers are pretty forgiving when it comes to someone admitting they made a mistake or overcommitted themselves, much more so than when someone tries to cover it up. I hope your pieces are returned to you soon!

Wow, you certainly went beyond the call of duty with the stitcher who isn't fulfilling her obligations. So sorry for you and Michelle!

I'm so sorry someone has let you down so badly. I can understand life gets in the way but not even to send a RR on when someone sends you an envelope. Well.....

Love your BBD start :) I'm waiting for my chart to arrive - it looks such a fun stitch!

Good for you posting this, Katrina. I will be posting my own as well. Here's hoping she does the right thing and returns our pieces. On a happier note - I love your new start...I am still waiting for mine to arrive, but this one is so pretty!

I sure hope you see some results with getting the pieces back. Your BBD is looking great - I'm working on the same piece but I started on the other end! :-)

Katrina, I feel so bad for you and Michelle. But whatever happens, we will all work very hard to make your Neighbourhoods so pretty, you will start to forget about this soon...
I love your new start! This is the first year I'm going to join the LFC, because I completely fell in love with this design. You made a great start! I have to wait for my LOS owners to come back from Nashville :o)

I feel your pain. I have a missing RR piece as well (from another group). The person who has mine is a manager (I think) of a LNS/INS and administrator of one of the popular BBs and has posted in the closed moderator forum about what's been going on with her life. She's also sent out an email stating she mailed the piece, along with another one, a bit a go, but doesn't answer the email sent out asking for the shipping/confirmation number. It's probably been about 2 weeks since I sent out an email to all in our group asking her for that info. I'm trying to decide what to do next.

I'm sorry you've been put into the position of needing to "out" the person who is holding on to the RR pieces. :(

Good luck, kiddo!

Oh Katrina...I'm so sorry this had to happen. I'm with you; I just don't understand why people do this. How hard is it to just email & apologise & send the piece/s on?? That's all you want.

I am still very sad about Lauren holding both pieces and npt responding to anyone. I am happy to stitch on yours again.

That really stinks a simple response woul have been nice. I hope something comes of your post it is a shame that you are having such a terrible time. Your start is really nice I like Blackbird designs as well.

Does anyone know Lauren personally and can collect both pieces from her to mail out? Just an idea.

I'm not making excuses for her - I don't know her - but there could be a good excuse, a computer crash, an illness or death in the family, she may be severely ill herself or maybe she even died!!!

I hope you get your pieces back eventually.

I am so sorry to hear about the "stolen" RR. I really hope that you get it back. I came to your site through a search for BBD and i just love your work! What a great start on the new loose feathers. Good luck!

Good luck with resolving the issue. It's hard to believe that a stitcher would renege on others isn't it? I seem only able to see good in others. I have just joined my first RR (Edgar's QFRR) and I am really looking forward to it.
Have a great weekend

I am so sorry for what you are going through.

I suppose we all run a risk of something like this happening when we participate in a rr, but it's still a terrible situation for you and Michelle and clearly wrong of Lauren. I hope she sees the error of her ways and good for you for beginning again with a new rr!

I've been in this situation... TWICE its not an easy one to be in and eventually you just give in.

You do realize that because this transaction was carried out via the Postal Service, you can report this gal to the Postal Service for Mail Fraud and you can contact the District Attorney in her city as well. It is THEFT -- pure and simple and it is illegal.

Katrina,
I am just now learning of the RR mishap! I recently joined group #1after a lady dropped out. I am so sorry that this happened to you. It probably would be a good idea to get each participants phone number when they sign up.
I do hope that you get you get your piece returned to you.
