Plans for the New Year and My Friends!!!!!!

I thinking making resolutions for the new year is a futile endeavor!!!!!  IMHO it's better to focus on an action.  My goal for the year is to accomplish more by making better use of my time.  I would like to spend more quality time with my family and friends, exercise more, do some things around my home I've been putting off,  and of course stitch more!!!!  A lot more this year than last.

That said I did have a few finishes last year that I still need to share!!!!!

top to bottom, left to right:  Plum Street Sampler Trim Keep, Goode Huswife Wintergreen Swan, Blackbird Designs New Love and Blackbird Designs Dear Friend
I am so blessed to have a close group of friends who all stitch too, we have stitching days, go away for weekends, text about life and all the fun things we are stitching and just generally have lots of fun!!!!!  The only problem is they are terrible enablers and when I think I have my stitching plans all worked out I get waylaid and sidetracked by their projects ;-).

Take for instance the Scarlet Letter Year stitchalong, my projects were Elizabeth Sheffield, Mary Jones and Jenny Bean.  All samplers I would like to finish!!!!  Then Paulette dragged out her Ruth Bacheler again, Jen decided she had to start it too, and Karin got her's out, well I couldn't just not get my Ruthie back out could I???????  And since I was getting her out I decided to revamp the colors a tiny bit to suit myself!!!!!   Natalia is the most disciplined, she is waiting to start until we all work out the bugs, LOL.

Instead Natalia and I decided we would start Dona Dorothea together!!!!!  I am still patiently waiting for her to start ;-).  She's finishing another project up first.

We won't mention the Attic Needlework Ann Bower stitchalong that Jen convinced me to start and then dragged her poor mother into it too.  Okay, well maybe I texted Jen a bazillion times, begging her to play along with me but she definitely coerced invited her mother to stitch it too.  We'll save pictures of that for another post.

I tend to have serious startitis and a complete lack of follow through which has not escaped the notice of my friends!!!!  Last week I was moaning about how little I feel like I finish.  I won't name names but someone mentioned that if I would just stitch on the same piece for a week I might actually make some progress on the multitude of projects calling my name ;-).  Never one to turn down a challenge, I promptly agreed to work on Dames Boarding School for at least 7 days.  I have actually made some good progress and I am still stitching her.

With a little discipline and plenty of encouragement from my friends and fellow bloggers I hope that this year I will accomplish lots on the stitching front with several finishes!!!!!!!  I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and happy New Year and I look forward to seeing everyone's stitching in 2013 :-)!!!!!

Happy Stitches,
Katrina

Hi Katrina, how are you? Hope you are well. What a wonderful collection of finishes. they all look lovely and I really love the Wintergreen Swan. Have never seen that one before, but that's nothing strange. Love your 2 SL pieces. Both are on my "to do" list. - Sandra.

Love all your finishes and your current projects too. So much eye candy to look at! I'm drooling over the Trims, Swan, and Dear (Mother) pieces especially. Gorgeous frame on the last one!

Your finishes are lovely, especially your dear mother sampler... so special and the perfect frame.
LOL... at least your posse had led you astray with two marvelous samplers to stitch. I'll wait for you all to get the kicks worked out of Ruth B. and then I'll attempt to work on her again. I've got Dona D. on my short list too.

Aren't stitching friends the best. I will have to live to 150 to stitch all the beautiful things I saw in everyone else's bag. Lol. Good luck with your plans for the year.

Love the last of your 2012 finishes! And it sounds like you have your hands full with SALs this year. All wonderful projects. My favorite is Ruth Bachelor so I will be checking in on your progress. Each time I see that border and bargello, I want to stitch it! Will have to wait though.

Such gorgeous finishes, Katrina! I bet your mom was thrilled with her gift. I LOVE your Dames Boarding School! I need to get mine out and get it started. I love it!

Ooooo... Dona Dorothea looks like a goodie... and so does Jenny Bean (from the previous post)... I have the SDW Sampler, but haven't started it yet... I like the idea of having multiple starts... and the work on same projects for a week and then switch sounds good too! :-) There simply has to be a way to get all these samplers I like actually stitched and displayed in my home, right? lol!

Beautiful stitching, Katrina! I love every one of those projects. I think it's first time I've seen Wintergreen Swan stitched and it's very pretty.

Sounds like you have great action plan for 2013!

I love being influenced by my friends and feel so lucky to have met so many wonderful women (and men) through our hobby. Whatever would we be doing these days without the connection of the internet!

You have such great taste in projects (and your photos are fabulous, by the way--no squinting to see tiny pictures). Your post made me itch to get out my kitted-up Ruthie, but I just can't start one more thing!

Your finishes from last year are stunning! I really love the trims pillow and the box one. Lovely samplers you've chosen to stitch on this year. I hear you about startitis!! What I try to do is work on some smalls in between my larger projects and then I end up getting a number of projects completed!

Marie said...

You always tackle such ambitious projects. I am going to try to work on a "big one" this year, maybe a HAED.

Your work is always so beautiful, congrats on the end of year finishes.

Oh what beautiful projects you have planned. I'm a bit like you. I'm easily distracted and find myself wanting to start on everything. My plan for 2013 is simply to make more time for stitching.
