We said goodbye to our dog Shelby today. She was almost 15 years old. She was the sweetest dog and we loved her so much. She started deteriorating last week so we knew it was coming but the last two days were really awful. She couldn't eat and could barely get up and walk around. I was trying to hold off because my DH is out of town on business this week but she was so bad this morning I couldn't wait anymore. We had to carry her to the car and into the office. I have the a very good vet he and he was so kind today. My DS and I stayed with her until the end and I boohooed all over her. She will be missed more than words can say.

I'm very sorry about Shelby - clearly she was a beloved member of the family. It won't help much, but know in your heart that you gave her the greatest gift by letting her go when it was her time.

My heart goes out to you. I know just how hard that is to do. I went through that almost 7 years ago and when I see someone else go through it, it is like it is happening to me all over again.
My current dog is 10 1/2 and those awful thoughts have already been entering my mind.
So sorry, don't we wish they could go on forever.
