Everything in Moderation

I've made a decision...the 10-25-50 challenge just isn't for me. I think it's a wonderful idea but I don't function well with an "all or nothing" mindset. I definitely still want to watch what I spend on stitching but there are a few things I'd like to have and I think that's okay :-). So my new philosophy for stash purchases is "everything in moderation". I don't think I am the first person to decide this challenge just isn't for me. I have to keep reminding myself it's okay to change my mind, LOL.

I did actually get a bit of stitching done last month and all things considered I am happy with what I accomplished:

1. Finished Blackbird Designs Bluebird's Message (I am anxiously waiting for the new Loose Feather to come out, should be any day now).
2. Finished Trilogy Cardiology fob for an exchange
3. Finished two Shepherd's Bush 2007 fobs

In March I am going to work on fobs for my mom, exchanges, PIFs and Mary Beale's Advent Sampler. I will have to wait and see if anything else takes my fancy :-).

I'm doing a 50-project challenge too, and I must admit, it's hard going at times, especially with all the new releases at the minute. I might change my mind soon as well ;)

That advent sampler is really nice! I've never seen that chart before :)

I agree about that challenge...I couldn't do it and I KNEW I couldn't do it :) Moderation is good and is what I try to practice :)

Good for you! I predict most will go by the wayside. Moderation is the key to just about everything. Besides that, it just didn't sound like much "fun" to me.
The Mary Beale Advent Sampler is amazing, isn't it? I want that one too.

You have to do what works best for you :) I have been trying to do the challenge. In the midst of it, I started a BIG project, which I was really enjoying. But then I started thinking that I wasn't finishing enough things...so I put it aside. I'm about ready to decide it's not for me either. But I have also decided that I'm going to prune my stash of things I know I will never stitch :)

Katrina, you took the words right out of my mouth. Typically, I'm a stickler for finishing what you start, but I gotta admit to being close to throwing in the towel. Making the list (going through stash) was much more fun than actually being required to stitch it while all the new things appear and look so appealing!

Love the Advent Sampler. Good luck on it. After Noble, I'm done with blocked and big things for a little while! : )

Good for you, I was wondering how bad people were getting hurt falling off that wagon now that market is over, or which shop would go out of business first if no one fell off. I knew it wasn't for me....heck I'm saving all those WIPs/UFOs for when I'm retired and in the home and have no money to buy stash. But for now, I work, therefore, I buy, but in moderation.

There isn't anything wrong with changing your mind, Katrina! Enjoy the Advent Sampler. It looks like fun!

Moderation is good; I wouldn't have been able to do the challenge either. All of your recent fob finishes are way too cute!

I too am a believer in "moderation in all things". After all, if it was good enough for Ben Franklin it's good enough for me. :) I could not go completely without buying a bit of stash now and then. It helps me keep motivated to finish up what I have - I need to keep the hope alive that I will someday stitch all of my stash.

Hey Katrina, it's good to know you're human. :) I have my WIP list and am really trying to work on it still, but I couldn't resist some of the market releases. You get so many things finished that I can't imagine you won't easily finish 50 things this year anyway... so you know you've GOT to replenish the stash! And congrats on the hubby's new job! That's wonderful news.

I always hesitate to jump on those wagons - you just never know what great design is right around the corner! Even exercising moderation, I still have a sizable stash, lol!

Katrina,
Moderation in all things is the rule we all hope to attain...but I fail so often. I love the advent sampler. Trying to get through ATS..but I would love to do this one, too! Speaking of moderation...hmmmm. Hugs, Deb in FL PS: Thanks for the prayers about my DD

I love the advent sampler - I hadn't seen that one before, but it's gorgeous!

My theory is we only live once and we should try to get what we like to have in moderation and self control. I love your SB scissor fob.

I LOVE Mary Beale's Advent sampler and hope you'll post progress photos as I'd love to see it done in actual needle/thrad and not just the computer copy. But the copy is so pretty I can only imagine how nice it will be stitched.
